Gove Associates collection, 1891-1907.

Collection contains twenty four leather bound surveyor's books dated between 1891-1907. Twenty two of the books carry the name of Daniel J. Albertson, although, since the handwriting varies, it is not known if he was the author. The books contain Kalamazoo, Cooper, and Comstock elevations, project plans and survey information for Kalamazoo Paper Company and Gibson Paper Company; and a Manistee River survey, 1906-1907 including the names of 29 survey workers,

Daniel J. Albertson was born in 1865 in Michigan. The family was originally from New York State and settled in Michigan in 1856. Daniel became a civil and industrial engineer as well as an architect and surveyor. He was also vice president of the Pure Ice Company of Kalamazoo, and was drain commissioner for Kalamazoo several terms between 1896-1906. He married Pearl L. Carver shortly before 1902.
